Benefit They're Real! Mascara and Naked Foundation

Sunday, January 24, 2016

Sephora provided me with samples and I ended up purchasing the full-sized products. You may have probably seen these around or use the products yourselves but they are the Benefit They're Real Mascara and the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation.

Before I used this, I had been using the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in Very Black. By the way, if you're looking for a drugstore mascara, I highly recommend this one because it's affordable and it works great. In fact, I'm able to switch back and forth between the two mascaras without noticing a major difference.

But I found myself reaching for the Benefit mascara more often and I think it may be the effortless application. It separates my lashes, gives no clumps, and provides great volume especially when using with a lash curler. I feel like you get a lot more in the bottle versus drugstore mascaras that dry out more quickly when used on a daily basis. And if you're like me and tend to fall asleep with makeup on (yes I know it's awful) the Benefit mascara still looks great and the best part is that my lashes don't have that icky stiff feeling. Overall, I highly recommend this mascara - it looks great and feels natural and light. I don't even notice any weight on my lashes which is what I really like when wearing daily to work or to the gym.

The Macy's Benefit counter had a They're Real Mascara Set that included a mini eyeliner and mini makeup remover for the same price as the mascara alone, so I got mine there.

I was previously using the Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation in Tawny which is amazing and I love the shade and the coverage! I was using it for almost two years and the only downside is that the foundation was a little thick which settled into the lines in my forehead and around my eyes. If I used it with a primer, it wasn't a big deal but I just felt the foundation was a little heavy at times.

The Urben Decay foundation offers a similar medium golden shade (Color 5) and was so lightweight, I didn't really feel I was wearing anything. The Naked foundation also gave more of a glow to my skin versus the Estee Lauder being more matte. As you can see in my picture below:

I'm super happy with the medium coverage - it's a nice change for my skin. I recommend stopping by Sephora and getting a color match. I also think it has the best packaging - perfect for traveling or popping in your purse without worrying about spillage. The Estee Lauder foundation had an open top with no pump which was a little problematic because I always poured a little bit too much product out versus a pump which is pretty much foolproof.

Let me know if you've used these products and what you think, or if you found better products that you love and think I will too! Us beauty fanatics got to stick together! ;)

Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

I am absolutely obsessed with my new Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene.

It's one of the best investments and I highly recommend this bag to add to any luxury collection. Let me tell you why I'm such a huge fan:

1. I've previously used and abused a Speedy 30 for about 6 years and it still looks the same as the day I bought it. I haven't had to fix or thoroughly clean it.

2. This particular Neverfull bag is perfect for a hoarder like me who likes to pack my life and bring it to work. Sometimes I pack a light sweater, an extra scarf, or my entire makeup bag depending on the day. I even sometimes throw my gym clothes in there when I'm in a real hurry. It can hold so much and stay so light!

3. This specific bag comes with a mini wristlet pouch that can be used as a clutch when I go out on a dinner date or a night out with the girls. Nuff said!

4. Beautiful red interior design and style of bag is the perfect accessory for any outfit. Goes with all of my outfits!

4. Classic design that never goes out of style! The best part is you can always sell a Louis Vuitton bag in good condition and get some pretty decent cash.

I initially chose the Monogram with Pivoine interior but Louis Vuitton has a 30-day exchange policy and I was able to try both designs. I personally think a darker bag complements my casual attire. I've been using this bag in various places: work, parties, shopping malls, brunches, and dinner. It's just the ultimate everyday bag and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a new luxury bag. :)

In the picture is also my new statement necklace. Macy's was having a fashion jewelry sale and everything was 75% off. I've been wanting a new statement necklace to spruce up my winter outfits so it was the perfect opportunity. I think I spent literally $8 for this originally priced $45 necklace. I highly recommending checking out Macy's Jewelry when they have their sales. So worth it!

Olive Green Dress

Dressing room selfie time!

Olive green has been a staple of mine when it comes to cute casual outfits. It looks really great on brown-eyed, tanned brunettes and is also a great basic color to have in our wardrobe. I was able to snag this cotton basic at a small boutique in the Valley, but you can find similar outfits by searching Aliexpress dresses or Lulu's dresses.

BMW 328i

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

I brought in my car for some paint repairs and my insurance company provided me a beautiful rental in the meantime. So I've recently been driving around this beauty:

Yup. A 2014 white BMW 328i is what they loaned me. I had to admit, I fell head over heels when driving this car. The car has a very sporty feel - its compact size is super convenient when turning corners or fitting in tight parking spaces. I almost didn't even want my Lexus back from the shop!

Now the only con I had was that the drive on the BMW was a bit bumpier compared to the Lexus ES 350. I don't know if it's because the sportiness of the BMW or because its much smaller in size than the Lexus, but when I drive my Lexus I literally feel like I'm smoothy gliding through the rough roads of Los Angeles. The comfort of my Lexus is superb - like I'm driving "first class".

Still, it was nice racing around in the BMW - I forgot how much I love compact sport cars. Definitely a fun car for anyone shopping for a basic luxury car. Too bad I have to return it! :(

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a fun-filled holiday. As we enter a new year with new resolutions (one of mine is to blog everyday), I'm beginning to reflect on the past year.

2015 was a great year for me. I focused mainly on a new career (Finance for a creative Entertainment company). As a result, I learned a lot about myself and many other different personality types which helped me to see different perspectives on life. I spent most of my time building tons of new relationships and meeting some incredible people. This led to tons of networking lunches and happy hours which were added bonuses! ;)

I also did myself a favor and took some vacation time during the holidays to relax and spend time with family. I haven't taken vacation time in over a year so it felt very necessary to pamper myself by making time for mani pedis, hair appointments, massages, and whatever made me feel pretty. I definitely want to continue pampering myself in the New Year thus, my New Year's resolution...

2015 was spent on hard work and networking to build my career. As for 2016 - I want to spend more time loving myself:

  • My body: I want to hit the gym at least 2-3 times weekly to tone and build lean muscle. I also want to stop overeating by eating within 1600-1800 calories. I don't need anymore than that for my 5'4 small frame.
  • My mind: I want to stress less. I want to focus on doing things I love like watching movies and shopping. I spent a lot of time last year thinking & planning but now that I'm where I want to be career-wise, it's time to take it down a notch and entertain myself more. Maybe spend a day now and then just watching t.v. or reading a trashy novel (love those)!
  • My financial goals: I have spent most of my life watching my wallet and being careful. But why do people work so hard in life if they can't splurge once in a while? You know that bag you've been eyeing for years but can't seem to bring yourself to shell out the money for it? Shell out the money.
  • My blog: I want to go above and beyond by promising myself to blog daily, whether it's a nonsensical selfie post or a random rant - I want to dedicate more of my time creating an active space on the web that I'd be proud to show off to anyone.
There you have it - my 2016 resolutions. Easier said than done but worth a try.
Let me know if you have good ideas for resolutions!

P.S. A good way to start off the year? A Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM :) You only have one life so make yourself happy! (As long as you don't go broke.) :P
